After 13 years of being with us nearly everywhere we went, we finally had to part with our lab, Daisy. She was Matt's first Christmas present from Ashlee. She hadn't been able to hunt the last two years because she didn't have the stamina, and two weeks ago she was at the point where she could hardly stand up. We always said we wouldn't make her suffer, but it was a very hard day for everyone, especially Matt. We took this picture of Daisy with the boys before we told them what was happening. (Hence the smiles.) The good thing is that we have so many great memories of her with our family, so we can look back with lots of smiles. We will miss her.

Goodbye Daisy

So sad! Are you all looking for another lab?
ReplyDeleteI almost just started crying at work. Daisy was a great dog!! Its a hard thing to put a dog down. I'm definitely not looking forward to it with Cassie and Bailey someday.
ReplyDeleteWe heard the news from Spencer in a note we received last week. Daisy was my first Granddog, and I loved her. She always remembered me, even if it had been months since I had seen her. When we got the letter, I showed it to Grandpa, and said, "I can't talk about this. Don't talk to me about it!" Because I was crying, and kept crying all day whenever I thought about her. Not that we would want her to keep having such a hard time and being so old, but because she was such a great girl and a part of our family. We will ALWAYS remember Daisy, how she loved to hunt, and was so good with her boys. We will ALL miss her.
ReplyDeleteLove, Grandma Clegg
